Array of politicians to attend and President to felicitate Shinde

A bail-boy in Solapur sessions court who became a sub-inspector in state police department, later being elected as MLA, minister, chief minister and home minister the country, as well as governor of Andhra Pradesh.

The life story of Sushil Kumar Shinde is nothing less than a bollywood screenplay as he is all set to be felicitated by the country's president Pranab Mukherjee, on Sunday, September 4.

Political big-wigs including Sharad Pawar, Nitin Gadkari, Ghulam Nabi Azad and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, will share dais on Sunday, September 4, in Solapur, when President Pranab Mukherjee will felicitate former union home minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde who is celebrating his 75'th birthday.

The program will be held at Indira Gandhi stadium in Solapur which will also see Maharashtra governor C. Vidyasagar Rao in attendance.

Born on September 4, 1941 Shinde is an arts and law graduate who worked as a bail-boy in Solapur sessions court between 1957 and 1964.

He then joined the police department as sub-inspector and worked with Mumbai CID for six years.

Except for1995, Shinde won all assembly elections between 1978 and 2004, after which he was inducted in to the Union Cabinet. He has a record of presenting nine successive state budgets, which was broken by Jayant Patil.

Shinde also became chief minister, union minister for power and union home minister. He was made governor of Andhra Pradesh after 2004 elections in the state.
