According to the BMC, actor Arjun Kapoor on Thursday requested Assistant Municipal Commissioner Parag Masurkar to allow him to dismantle a gymnasium on the terrace of the building in Juhu he resides in, and has agreed to demolish the illegal portion 'on his own' by Friday.

Civic authorities had warned the actor that civic staff would be sent to the building to demolish the room constructed on the terrace of the building. According to the BMC, Kapoor who resides on the 7th floor of the Raheja Orchid in Juhu had encroached on the terrace by constructing a brick room without permission to accommodate his gymnasium.

BMC had received a complaint regarding the illegalities and had shot off a notice to the actor in March seeking documents to prove the legality of the structure. However, when the actor failed to provide the same, the K/West ward office last week issued another notice to Kapoor to allow civic staff on the premises to demolish the unauthorised structure.

Parag Masurkar, Assistant Commissioner of K-West ward said that the civic body had given enough time to the actor to either submit supporting documents or remove the illegal portion.

"However, on Thursday, the actor has shifted the equipment and has promised to remove the illegal structure on his own by Friday. Civic staff is present there to supervise the work", said Masurkar.
