Argument over TV shows triggers woman's suicide

A 38-year-old lady committed suicide in Kamothe, Navi Mumbai, on Friday. Shabana Ramjun Pakjade, a mother of three children, and a resident of Sierra apartments in Kamothe sector 20, hung herself, Kamothe police told dna.

Police said that Pakjade lived with her three children. Her husband works in Dubai. On Friday, she was watching TV with her children, when her 20-year-old son came up to her and snatched the TV remote from her hands. They had an argument about her choice of TV shows, and she went into the bedroom, feeling disgusted and angry, police said. Her son grew worried when she didn't come out from the bedroom for a long time. Her sons got worried and they started calling her outside. After she didn't reply for a long time, they broke open the door and saw that their mother had hanged herself. They took her to the nearest hospital, which declared her dead on arrival.

Kamothe police APS Salunke said, "It was a big argument about choice of TV shows. We have noted this down an accidental death report (ADR). We are investigating the case further."
