Are you a woman who loves to ride a motorbike? If so, it's time to hit the streets. Friday is International Female Riders Day and a group of women are planning to take the bull by its horns.

Bikerni, the brainchild of an ardent biker, Urvashi Patole, an association of female bike riders in India, are planning to vroom on their mean machines to celebrate womanhood, independence and love of bikes.
A battalion of women riders, almost 30 from every city, will go on joy rides on their bikes.

"Groups of 30 will go to Kiva Shell beach in Shrivardhan from both Pune and Mumbai. While some of us have already started our journey, others will leave on Friday morning," said Urvashi, adding that this was an annual feature.

Kiva Shell beach is 220 km away from Mumbai, and the bikers, in the 20-40 age group, will be zipping on their Enfiled, Yamaha, Harley and Splendour.

"We will reach there in four hours, spend the weekend there and ride back. We are all from different walks of life—students, corporates and creative professionals. The idea is to celebrate our strength and independence. We love riding bikes and what better way to celebrate our passion than going on a ride on the day dedicated to us," added Patole.
