To bring the local residents together on a Sunday, the residents of Andheri West have planned to come up with an initiative ‘Be Happy - spreading smile’, a free street event at Lokhandwala Backroad on every third Sunday of the month.

To bring the local residents together on a Sunday, the residents of Andheri West have planned to come up with an initiative ‘Be Happy - spreading smile’, a free street event at Lokhandwala Backroad on every third Sunday of the month.

The street fest will be organized on November 20 for the first time in Lokhandwala. According to organising members, the initiative was in pipeline for more than a year ago. Speaking about the street event which will be organized for the first time in Lokhandwala, the organising member said: “The event will not only bring residents together but also bring back childhood memories and help children play freely on the streets. This is a free street experience for everyone in the locality.”

The organizers aim to have at least a footfall of around 1,500 resident on the first day of the event and are planning to come up with different activities to be played and performed gradually. “We will be organizing different sports activities, flash mob, music and dance. On the first day, there will be a workshop on tree plantation techniques too,” added the members.

The event will begin from New Mahada Tower and stretch upto Ganpati Visarjan pond, Backroad. “There are 36 members who have come together to organize the street fest from different areas like Lokhandwala, Oshiwara, Shashtri Nagar, Versova to name a few. The initiative is by the people and for the people,” a member said.
