Andheri surgeon cheated of Rs 2.5 Crores, city doctor held

The accused gynaecologist on the pretext of selling out his Borivli nursing home took 2.5 crore in cash and later backed out when Economic Offence Wing nailed him after two years

The Economic Offence Wing of Mumbai police have arrested a 62 year old gynaecologist for cheating an Andheri surgeon of Rs 2.5 crore. The accused conducted cash transactions for the sale of his nursing home in Borivli and later backed out.

Dr Deepak Patel,46, a resident of MIDC, Andheri East had given Rs 2.5 crore to Dr Kirtikumar Shah,62 a resident of Kandivli for the sale of his Pratik nursing home at MG road junction two years ago. "After giving him the initial amount he agreed to handover the property documents but failed to do so. He then started ignoring our calls and did not handover the property, later denying that we even paid him any money at all. So we filed a complaint against him", said Dr Deepak Patel, the complainant adding that Kandivli police finally arrested the accused almost two years later.

"We have arrested Shah under section 420(cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and have kept him in custody for further investigations", said Jitesh Shingote, Investigation officer, EOW.
