Christmas isn't Christmas without carols, Christmas trees and a glorious roast lording it over my dinner table. But why bother fiddling about with roast turkeys, goose and beef when there are scores of restaurants where you can stuff yourself silly?

For those who can't be bothered to step into their kitchen, Bandra's Smoke House Deli is going the decadent way with Roast Duck and Chicken Cannelloni, Roast Beef served in Whiskey Gravy and Christmas Stuffing, Braised Lamb and Roast Veggie Pie, a celebration that will carry on right until New Year's Eve.
Chef Glyston Gracias, Chef Manager at Smoke House Deli, believes that, "Christmas is all about cheery vibes and celebrating the joy of delicious food. Keeping this in mind, in our Christmas menu, we are introducing some old-school favourites with a contemporary twist in flavour and presenting them in a whole new avatar." And so, those with a traditional turn of mind can enjoy Smoke House Deli's succulent Roast Turkey with Stuffing (only on December 24th and 25th).

Meanwhile, Salt Water Café, another Bandra favourite, is offering a vast menu for the strong of heart and stomach—Baked Chicken Liver Paté with Roasted Green Apples Shepherd's Pie, Ravioli of Roast Duck with Orange and Sichuan Pepper, Jerusalem Artichoke and Brussels Sprouts, Cider Vinegar Potatoes, Roasted Pork Belly glazed with honey and the 5-spice Roasted Whole Chicken with stuffing and gravy.
Chef Gresham Fernandes, Group Executive Chef – Fine Dine at Impresario Entertainment and Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. tells us that, "the Christmas menu at Salt Water Café revisits some Christmas classics with an added element of surprise in terms of flavour, ingredients and dressing. The food is simple and straightforward, just the way it has always been at our restaurant, but cooked with a twist. The intent is to let each dish warm you up and satiate all sorts of holiday season cravings."

The deep-pocketed can swan around sipping champagne tea at Atrium bar and Lounge at Taj Lands End, then shimmy over to Bandra Kurla Complex for a taste of Trident's patisserie, where the pastry chef has conjured up a bevy of sugary confections—traditional plum pudding, mince pies, rich, boozy Christmas cake and Stollen.

Revellers further afield in Juhu can help themselves to JW Marriott's Lotus Café's proper Roast Turkey, Lamb and Suckling Pig Feast on Christmas Eve. Akshay Singh, who lives just a few blocks away, can't wait to dig in. "My girlfriend and I are planning a special Christmas meal there. My stomach is already rumbling," he laughs. There's something wonderfully charming about a traditional gingerbread house, the centrepiece of a festive tableau and Marriott's pastry chef Savio Fernandes has made a fine job of it. Towering 22 feet above the ground, it calls to mind the enchanted house that lured Hansel and Gretel into the forest.
