BJP president Amit Shah asked MPs and MLAs not to take lightly the strengthening of party organisation and 92,000 booths across Maharashtra or else they will not be considered for nomination in the coming parliament and assembly elections slated for 2019. His message was not to think themselves indispensable as there are other capable party members who can be considered at the time of ticket distribution.

Shah at his meeting with MPs and legislators here at the sports club wanted them to concentrate on organisation and booth building not only in their respective constituencies but also one more each segment assigned to them. Shah took the impromptu test of party MPs Ramdas Tadas from Wardha and Harischandra Chavan from Nashik and legislators Ranjit Savarkar from Akola and Sudhakar Deshmukh from Nagpur and asked them what they have done in this regard. "You must thank the party that you were given ticket but you are not only to be capable. Party will explore other options too in case of poor performance," he warned.

Shah, who is recognised as election winning machine, said despite opposition's noise, BJP is sure to retain power in 2019 Lok Sabha election. He, therefore, asked MPs and legislators to step up organisation work, keeping in mind 2024 general elections. "In case of Maharashtra, work hard to increase BJP's tally to 150 plus from the present 123 in the 288-member state assembly in the next election,"' he said. Incidentally, Shah was silent on BJP allying with Shiv Sena in the coming elections. "Instead of complaining about Shiv Sena criticising BJP-led government at the Centre and in the state on each and every issue, work more to improve party organisation,"' he added.

Shah pulled up the BJP ministers for inordinate delays in the acquisition of land and construction of party office in each district. "District in-charge ministers, who have yet to make progress in this regard, will have to prepare land acquisition documents latest by May 25 and complete construction at the earliest," he said.

BJP president asked MPs and legislators to visit 50 villages identified by the party's central unit between April 14 and May 11 and work for organising amenities like cooking gas, electricity, health centre, crop insurance. They will have to camp in the village assigned to them and submit report to the central leadership from there itself.

Shah wanted MPs and legislators to incorporate members of schedule caste, schedule tribe, other backward class and minorities in booth committees. He declared that an office bearer will be made in charge of five booths each for its re-organisation. "Efforts will have to be made to improve party's performance at every polling booth. Corrective steps will be taken to improve the situation where performance was weak," he noted.
