Actor Akshay Kumar's bodyguard allegedly slapped a Delhi-based doctor on Saturday morning when the latter tried to get a closer look at the actor during a film shoot near Inorbit Mall in Malad (W). The Bangur Nagar police have registered a non-cognizable offence against the bodyguard, Shrishail Tele (32), who was brought to the police station and allowed to go after a warning.

According to the police, the complainant, Shailesh Sharma (33), is a dentist by profession and lives in Delhi. Sharma arrived in Mumbai a few days ago and had been staying at his brother in-law's house in Grandeur building at Evershine Nagar in Malad (W).

The incident took place around 11.45am on Saturday, when Sharma saw a film shooting going on while on his way to a nearby Hanuman temple along with his brother-in-law. "Akshay Kumar was waiting near his vehicle. Sharma tried to take a better look at the actor from up close, but the bodyguard stopped him. He waited for two minutes and tried again, but the bodyguard allegedly pushed him away and verbally abused him," said a police officer of the Bangur Nagar police station, adding, "The two started arguing, and it culminated with the infuriated bodyguard slapping Sharma."

Sharma's brother-in-law immediately informed the police about the incident, following which the police arrived and took both Sharma and Tele to the police station. Sharma was sent to a hospital for medical examination and a non-cognizable offence was registered against Tele, the officer added.

The deputy commissioner of police (zone 11) B Rajput said, "As of now, we have registered the offence against Akshay Kumar's bodyguard, but further investigation into the complaint is on."
