Vikhroli police have booked five persons, including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Randheer Savarkar and Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjay Dhotre's son Anup from Akola for allegedly not clearing the pending bill of Rs 6.5 crore and threatening a building contractor.

According to police, the complaint has been filed by Sachin Kale, 38, resident of Airoli in Navi Mumbai. Kale has alleged that five persons, including Savarkar and Dhotre, duped him of Rs 6.5 crore by not paying a pending bill for construction work he did for them.

Kale further alleged that the accused threatened him of dire consequences if he asked for money.

He said he was also manhandled when he had went to meet the accused to get the bill cleared, police said.

"We have registered a case against the accused and our probe is on to verify the claims. We will take necessary action," said Sachin Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone VII).

When DNA contacted Savarkar, he said he was unaware of the issue and that police had not contracted him yet. He said he will comment on the matter when he gets details of the case.
