Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab laughed when he was told by the jail authorities that he would be shifted from Arthur Road jail. Sources said he was walking without any fear when he was leaving jail.
The sources said when the escort officers whom were part of the operation to shift Kasab arrived at the jail in the wee hours of Tuesday Kasab was sitting with his back to the wall. A senior jail official then entered the cell and told Kasab, “Kasab uttho, chalo.”
“Kasab initially grinned and later laughed. Probably he had a hunch that this could be his last moment in the jail. He hasn’t been sleeping properly since past many days,” said a jail official, requesting anonymity.
“While passing through the jail premises Kasab didn’t seem nervous and there was no fear on his face. Kasab gave no trouble during the whole process. His attitude was almost cooperative. He didn’t utter a single word all this while,” said a jail official.
Officials said that Kasab mutely climbed into the vehicle waiting outside jail, not once looking back.
