After a gap of more than five years, national carrier Air India will bring Bhuj on its domestic network connecting Kutch city of Gujarat with Mumbai.

Airline officials said its domestic network will have a direct flight from May 15, 2014 between Mumbai and Bhuj. The flight will be operated by Alliance Air, the wholly owned subsidiary of Air India, five days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Airline's spokesperson said flight AI9625 will take off from Mumbai at 0605 hrs and reach Bhuj at 0715 hrs. The return flight will leave Bhuj at 0740 hrs and land in Mumbai at 0845 hrs.

The erstwhile Indian Airlines used to operate flights to Bhuj, a port city with tremendous growth potential.

Sources said many passengers from the business community travel daily to Bhuj for work and therefore there is a great demand for increased air connectivity. "We have kept the flight timings to suit the travelling needs of these prospective passengers," said an airline source.
