Air India aircraft does emergency evacuation

An Air India plane arriving at city's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) from Hyderabad had to make emergency evacuation of its 120 passengers soon after landing as the pilot suspected of smoke emanating from the engine.

However, no injuries have been reported and the investigation by the airline and aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is on to find out if there was some problem with the plane. The preliminary investigation has not found any snag with the engine and neither was there a tyre burst.

According to the airport officials, the incident happened at about 7:20am with flight AI 620, which had 120 passengers and six crew members on board. An Air India source said that the pilot suspected of the smoke when the flight was taxiing towards the bay after landing. Soon, the pilot called for emergency evacuation and chutes were deployed to move passengers and crew out of the plane.
