The Mumbai police have summoned actor Arjun Kapoor and director-turned-producer Karan Johar to record their statements in the case wherein they have been accused of passing obscene comments in the controversial All India Bakchod (AIB) Knockout roast comedy show held in December 2014.

According to senior police officials, the investigation into the complaint filed post AIB roast event against Ranveer Singh, Kapoor, Johar and other team members is still underway.

"We issued summons to Kapoor and Johar in connection with the case three weeks ago. We have told them to be present before the investigating officer to record their statements," said a police officer privy to the investigation.

He added, "Post the summons, their lawyers got in touch with the police station and informed that they are currently are outside the country and will co-operate with the investigation as soon as they return."

The Mumbai police were also likely to record the statement of actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. An FIR was registered at the Tardeo police station against Johar, Kapoor, Singh and others last year for allegedly using obscene language at the event. Earlier, during the course of the investigation, the Mumbai police have already recorded the statements of AIB members and Raghu Ram of MtV Roadies fame.

AIB Knockout, a roast comedy show, was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium at Worli in south Mumbai on December 20, 2014. The show was uploaded on YouTube on January 28 and made available in three parts.

The event fell into controversy after some people objected to the language and the content of the show. A complaint was filed in February last year against Karan, Ranveer and Arjun, along with other performers, who allegedly passed abusive and offensive remarks against one another and even at the audience during the show.
