School students got an unexpected two-day holiday on Friday and Saturday due to heavy rains in the city, but for Sunday they are charged up and ready to leave their homes to mark International Day of Yoga at their respective institutions.

Students and teachers have been told to remain present on Sunday for the same, said authorities from educational institutions. Some institutions are ready with special instructors to teach yoga, while some have prepared a presentation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to encourage students. Even IIT-B has kept a Surya Namaskar competition to bring in an element of fun for students for the day, with many said to be already practising hard for it.

Priyanka Rajani, principal of Vidyanidhi high school and junior college, Vile Parle, said, "We have appointed a private instructor to teach yoga to all our school and junior college students as well as teachers and other staff. We have sent messages to everyone to be present to celebrate the day. We have made a presentation in which Modi's speech will be shown."

"We too are all set to do yoga with our students on Sunday. A yoga teacher will come to guide us. Everyone will be present for the celebration," said Anila Pillai, vice principal of HR college, Churchgate.

IIT-B spokesperson Rashmi Uday Kumar said, "As it's vacation, students are yet to return... those who are on campus will participate in the celebration. They will be addressed by our director in the gymkhana, then a lecture-cum-demonstration by experts from Ambika Yoga Kutir and Yogathon will be held, in which the Surya Namaskar competition will take place."
