A day after the landslide near Kasara on the railway tracks between Mumbai and Nashik, the road between the two cities near Kasara ghat gave way due to heavy rains, slowing down road traffic on Thursday.
With Kasara receiving very heavy rainfall for the last couple of days, the road going from Nashik to Mumbai cracked open, with the gap being about a foot long and deep.
The Kasara police have diverted traffic going both ways to the one lane on the same road. "We have barricaded the stretch and traffic has been restricted to one lane. There has not been much disruption in vehicle movement," said assistant inspector Yashwant Sorse.
