The hiccups in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) do not seem to end. On Wednesday, when schools in the city received the hall tickets after over a month's delay, several students hall tickets were missing and some had errors too.

The SSC examinations conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) are scheduled to begin on March 3.

"We have not received the hall tickets for two of our students. We have informed the board about it. However, there are two public holidays and hence, we hope that does not leave the students running for the hall tickets till the last day," said Prashant Redij, principal, Hilda Castelino Marathi High School, Kandivli. Similar cases were found at SVP School, Kandivli, and Balmohan Vidyamandir School, Dadar.

Some schools also received hall tickets belonging to students from other schools. "We received a few extra hall tickets, which belonged to students of Digambar Patkar Vidyalaya. However, the school is just next to ours so we directly sent it over," said Minakshi Walke, principal, VN Sule Guruji School, Dadar.

The board has assured that the missing hall tickets will reach the school at the earliest. "The number of students missing from the pre-lists was many. Compared to them only a few have not received the hall tickets. We have asked the schools to get in touch with us and the hall tickets will be issued immediately," said Laxmikant Pandey, chairperson, board's Mumbai division.

Apart from the missing hall tickets, there were errors on the hall tickets. "There are errors in the hall tickets which we have received. While we have been given the authority to make the corrections and inform the board about it, it is a lot of work to do at the last moment," said Veena Donwalkar, principal, Chhatrapati Shivaji Vidyalaya, Dharavi. Several schools received pre-lists only a week earlier and hence, had very little time to respond with corrections.

Principals blamed the online process for the goof-ups. "This year, the HSC registrations were conducted online and hence all the pressure came on the SSC exams. This has created all the trouble. Never has this kind of a mess happened before," said Redij. However, a board official said it was due to a technical glitch by the programming company that resulted in the data going missing.

Board helpline flooded with queries
On Wednesday, as soon as the hall tickets reached the students, calls started pouring in at the board's helpline. "We received over 300 calls from students complaining that they had not received the hall tickets or there were some errors on them and also about the seating arrangements," said a counsellor.

Cheating cases on Wednesday
There were only two cases of cheating, from Pune and Kolhapur each, registered across the state on Wednesday in the class XII Hindi literature examination conducted in the second-half of the day. Only 60 students appeared for the exam in the Mumbai division.
