After the Mumbai and Satara police's investigations pertaining to drug queen Shailaja alias Baby Patankar, Palghar district's Manikpur police station has got her custody for three days after a big-time peddler from Vasai, arrested for buying from her, named her during interrogations.

Earlier, the Palghar police tried to arrest Baby but she managed to give them the slip twice.

The Manikpur police have formed a special team of officials including senior cops to probe the case. Rajveer Singh, 27, alias Paape, a resident of Nalasopara, supplied mephedrone that he bought from Patankar's Worli residence in the Vasai-Virar region in large quantities, and was on the police radar when he was arrested, the police officials said. They added that he was the one who revealed Patankar's Vasai connection and worked for her in this region as the peddler.

"We had raided her residence in connection with the case under section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc) of the Indian Penal Code, but found her elder son, Girish, and questioned her as she fled from the residence twice and we are probing and we will interrogate her for the next three days as court has granted us the custody," said a Manikpur police official.

"We have formed a special team for interrogation and we suspect that she will come up with a few more names of peddlers working in this region," said KS Hegaje, senior inspector, Manikpur police station.

Cops using her to divert investigation: Daughter-in-law
As Patankar showed no remorse while giving her statement to the police, she revealed about the quantities of ganja she sold along with brown sugar. Her daughter-in-law Sarika, wife of Patankar's younger son, told dna,"My mother has been made a scapegoat and she is just a pawn the police is using to divert investigations in the wrong direction. We are with her during her tough time and will bring her out of all the cases which the police have filed." .

"The police has picked her up after small-time peddlers named her, but she has nothing to do with this case," said Sarika
