First, he raised the nightlife issue, then he was seen with the troubled residents of Campa Cola Compound and, now, Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray has hit the roads, literally.

Aditya, on Thursday, inspected road works in South Mumbai, along with second-rung leaders in the BMC.

In what is being seen as the cub playing a larger role in the party’s activities ahead of the polls next year, Aditya, a star campaigner for the party during 2012 BMC elections, assured good roads for Mumbaikars in the near future.

“It is not just during monsoon that we go out to see road repair works. The monsoon is over and we are out inspecting again. We are committed to giving Mumbaikars good roads,” he said, after visiting road construction works in Ballard Pier and Churchgate.

“People often complain about bad roads. But we have the blueprint (master plan) ready for city roads. And we will get the job done.”

The youngster was flanked by mayor Sunil Prabhu, standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale and civic house leader Yashodhar Phanase.

A party leader close to Aditya said, “He is aware of the situation around him. He takes a decision only after thinking (on the issue) from different angles. Aditya shifting from issues pertaining to the youth to those concerning the elders hints that he is up for a bigger role.”

When queried if Aditya is taking up a bigger role in the backdrop of the demise of former party chief and grandfather Bal Thackeray last year and concerns about his father Uddhav Thackeray’s health, the leader said, “He must be consulting or working on his father’s instructions.”
