Actress alleges rape by financier

A film financier has been arrested by the Charkop police after an actress alleged she had been raped and cheated by him. The victim had met the accused in December and he allegedly promised her a role in a film. He also gave her a cheque of Rs7.5 lakh for the gig and the duo signed an agreement.

A police officer said, "After giving the cheque and making the agreement, he invited her to his residence in Kandivli West. They had food and alcohol after which the woman allegedly passed out."

Her complaint states that he forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her, then asked her to return the cheque. When she said that she would lodge an FIR, he agreed to marry her, said the police.

"She kept mum about it for a while when he agreed to marry her. But she later realised he was married and his wife was expecting a child," said an officer.

The actress registered a case of cheating and rape with the Charkop police on Thursday, and the accused has been arrested. He will be produced before a court on Friday.
