The National Commission for Women (NCW) and its state bodies in Maharashtra and Delhi condemned the alleged molestation and took suo motu cognizance of the case. The Civil Aviation Ministry and aviation watchdog DGCA have also sought details from Vistara.

The NCW wrote to the Maharashtra DGP, Satish Mathur, and the ethics officer of Vistara. In an email to them, it said it has taken cognizance of media reports and expects action.

Although the airline claimed it has zero tolerance for such behaviour, no complaint was filed with the police, NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma said.

Calling it a “shameful incident”, Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said: “MSCW will direct DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) to inquire into the matter.”
