Acid Attack: 48 year-old flings acid on wife at Vasai

The Vasai Police have taken a 48 year-old man into custody after he allegedly flung acid on his 32 year-old wife due to petty reason on Thursday at around 5.30 am . The woman is recuperating in a Vasai hospital for severe burns.

According to Vasai police,the accused husband Ajay Raut was given a sound thrashing and was dragged to the police station by the locals after his wife Arti Raut suffered burns on. The exact reason of the fight was not recorded as police had admitted husband and wife to the hospital for treatment.

"Arti has suffered burns and has been admitted at VVMC run Sir DM Pethit hospital in Vasai and we have recorded the incident in the station diary", said an on duty Vasai police official.

"Husband suffered assault injuries after locals thrashed him for hurling acid on his wife and we will record the statement of the duo later in the day and register the case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code", said a senior police official.
