Accused flees Thane civil hospital, police on lookout

A 41-year-old man fled from Thane Civil hospital after tricking a police officer. The accused has been absconding since then. The police have formed teams and are on the lookout for the accused.

The accused has been identified as Nafees Ahmed Ansari, a resident of Malegaon. He was lodged in Thane Central Jail and was arrested under section 379 of the IPC. The accused pretended to be sick and the police officer took him to the hospital where he tricked the officer and fled. The Thane Nagar police have booked the accused for escaping from the custody and have formed teams to nab him.

"The accused was pretending to be sick and managed to escape when he was put under observation," said a police officer.

"We tried to locate him but failed. We suspect that he may have rushed to his native place. We are investigating further," said the officer.

"A case against Ansari have been registered under section 224 of the IPC and we will arrest him soon," said GA Kokane, investigation officer.
