The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday recorded the statement of Pankaj Bhujbal, son of former Public Works Department (PWD) minister Chhagan Bhujbal, in connection with the investigations into the Bandra MIG colony redevelopment project. The ACB had earlier summoned the former minister and his nephew Sameer Bhujbal and recorded their statements as well.

According to sources in the ACB, Pankaj on Friday presented himself before the investigation officer and recorded his statement. "Pankaj was issued summons in connection with the case. He presented himself on Friday before us and recorded his statement," said an officer privy to the investigation. "We gave Pankaj a chance to explain himself in connection to the findings during our inquiry into the Bandra MIG colony redevelopment project," he added.

The ACB has started an open inquiry into nine allegations levelled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against Chhagan Bhujbal in their public interest litigation (PIL). In their inquiry into the Bandra MIG colony redevelopment contract, which was awarded to three private firms, the ACB sleuths have found that the Bhujbal family has received kickbacks of around Rs40 crore from these firms. "We have found enough evidence against Bhujbal and we are likely to file an FIR in the case," said an officer.
