ACB files charge sheet in Kondhane Dam scam

On Monday, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Thane Range filed a 3,000-page charge sheet at the Thane court in the alleged Kondhane Dam scam. In 2016, a case was registered against seven persons including two firms responsible for the development of the dam in Karjat tehsil of Raigad district.

The charge sheet names Nisar Khatri, who run FA Enterprises and FA Constructions along with six government employees of the irrigation department.

"We have submitted the charge sheet to the court and have enough evidence against the accused. We will file a supplementary charge sheet if required and more accused will be named in the charge sheet," said a senior ACB official.

A petition was filed in 2012 by activists Mayank Gandhi, Anjali Damania, Ajay Mathankar and Brian Lobo. The tendering process for the project was allegedly unregulated and illegal. Legal procedures were not followed by FA Enterprise and FA Construction from Khar, both shown to be different entities, and had been awarded a disproportionately large number of irrigation project contracts within Thane and Raigad districts.
