The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday filed a case against a health officer of the BMC attached with K West ward for demanding a bribe. During the search conducted at the accused's residence, ACB officials recovered Rs29.18 lakh in cash.

As per ACB officials, the complainant was setting up his own coffee shop at Andheri (W). For that, he needed to procure various licences and had acquired the services of a consultancy firm. When the firm approached the BMC K-West ward office, the accused, identified as Kishore Hari Naik, 50, demanded Rs60,000 for the health permits.

The complaint later approached the ACB and registered a complaint, following which officials searched Naik's residence at Matunga and recovered Rs29.18 lakhs. "We have registered a case of bribery against Naik and recovered the cash from his home. We will now further investigate and if we find that his assets are disproportionate to his income, we will take further action," said additional commissioner of police, ACB, Vishwas Nagre Patil.
