A team of four doctors from VPS Healthcare in Abu Dhabi visited Saifee Hospital to review Eman's medical reports on Wednesday.

However, a dozen doctors at Saifee Hospital, who are treating Eman are determined to carry on their 'symbolic resignation'.

Shaimaa Selim, Eman's sister, who wants Eman to walk, has now resigned to her fate. "The doctors have not informed me about her discharge," she told DNA but accepted that she is ready to take Eman back home. As the war of words turns ugly, surgeons watching are calling the case a classic example of miscommunication and bariatric surgery being oversold.

"There are several issues here. First, both the doctor and the patient have tried to use each other for publicity. Second, lack of communication about expectations from the surgery as well as overselling the results of a bariatric surgery," said one of the leading city surgeons who did not wish to be named.

"I have not seen a case where a patient has lost 300 kg in two months time," Dr Jayashshree Todkar said. Dr Ramen Goel, Director, Centre of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, Wockhardt Hospitals will be visiting Eman on Thursday.
