The Sahar police, who are investigating the alleged kidnapping and rape of a five-year-old girl in Aarey Colony, have rounded up over a hundred autorickshaw drivers and are scanning about 15 CCTVs located in the neighbourhood of Andheri and Aarey Colony.

According to the police, the minor who lived in JB Nagar, Andheri East, was playing outside her home in a slum colony on Sunday night when an unknown autorickshaw driver allegedly lured her with chocolates and kidnapped her in his vehicle. He took her to the forest area of Aarey Colony, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her repeatedly.

"Around 11pm, he left her in the forest area and ran away. A police officer spotted her wandering and crying in pain," said an officer. The girl was taken to a hospital and a case was registered. The Aarey Colony police transferred the case to the Sahar police.

"We have formed 15 police teams to nab the accused. We have rounded up all autorickshaw drivers from the area and have been asking the girl to identify the accused," said an officer from the Sahar police, adding that the victim is currently out of danger.

"We are also checking footage from about 15 CCTV cameras put up in the area. However, footage from most is not clear. We are unable to prepare a sketch as the child is unable to describe the person clearly," said an officer.

A case has been registered on charges of rape, kidnapping and unnatural sex.
