Aarey Colony to host film festival on wildlife conservation and greenery

To highlight the importance of wildlife and green spaces, Aarey Milk Colony Group is organising Aarey Green Film Festival 2015 on July 19.

A first of its kind event organised by the group, Iamin spoke with Conservationist Manish Gadia, one of its members who said, "We want to educate people by screening movies related to environmental issues. This is the best way to create awareness among people. The movies chosen to be screened during the festival are indirectly related to life at Aarey Colony. We are grateful to Aarey Colony CEO GN Raut for giving us permission to organise the festival."

The event will be co-organised by Paryavaran Dakshada Manch, an NGO. The festival will have 20 short films and documentaries. The duration of the movies will range from 1 to 30 minutes. The festival aims to attract school children, adults, environmentalists and nature lovers. The different category of movies being screened include conservation of butterflies, deforestation, waste management, man v/s nature, wild cats of urban India, water pollution, Indian birds and cause of their decline.

"We have seating arrangements for up to 90 people because of which we have divided the screening in three batches. Pre-registration entries are open and there will also be on the spot registration available. Entry is free of cost. If any citizen is willing to volunteer, they can mail us at saveaarey2020@gmail.com," said Gadia.
