AAP to inaugurate its first Mohalla Clinic in city

Buoyed by its success and laurels it received internationally, the Aam Aadmi Party said it will be inaugurating its Delhi-styled Mohalla Clinics in city on Sunday. The announcement was made during a press conference addressed by AAP member and former Lok Sabha candidate of the party Satish Jain. The press conference was held on Friday at the Marathi Patrakar Sangh where the party also announced a protest against rising power tariff.

The party, which has been considering contesting the civic elections, will have its first clinic in Kurla, in Amar CHS, Kamani, near Phoenix Market City. "It will be on the lines of the Mohalla Clinics in Delhi. A new patient will be charged Rs10 for one-time registration; after that, almost all medication will be free," said Jain.

The clinic will be run on donations received from people. "These can be from Rs500 to Rs5,000. The monthly expense of the clinic will be Rs50,000 in which over 100 patients will be treated daily. The idea is to tell that good primary health centres can be run, as that's something that's not happening in spite of a budget of Rs3,000 crore," said Jain.

The party also said it will launch a drive against high power tariff in city. "We will reach out to people and seek a sort of referendum through signatures to ensure that the Delhi model is adopted here too. People in Mumbai pay the highest for electricity as compared to any other place. The tariff has to reduce," said Jain.
