In a couple of days, the Election Commission of India will announce the date of parliamentary elections which are due to take place in April-May. The Aam Admi Party (AAP), which is the new entrant in the political arena and promises to field only honest candidates, is likely to field Sanjeev Sane, a socialist worker of Thane region, for the Thane constituency seat.

According to sources, AAP has already decided to field Sane from Thane constituency where Sanjeev Naik is the incumbent member of parliament (MP). Sane confirmed that he was interested to contest in the parliamentary election for Thane seat on AAP ticket. "I have already submitted all the required documents to the party and now a committee of the party in Delhi will take the final decision," said Sane.

Sane was connected with Samajvadi Janaparishad, a group of socialist workers formed by veteran socialist leader Bhai Vaidya, in Maharashtra. He first got connected with Jan Lokpal movement during Anna Hazare's fast at Ramlila Maidan and was one of the few who strongly believed that if that movement had to be taken forward then it needed to be converted into a political party.

Sane said, "AAP will win the Thane constituency seat and will end the dynasty politics from the country, including Thane region," adding that dynasty politics does not allow sharing of power and money. "I am not against all politicians from other parties but the dynasty system does not allow power sharing which hampers the growth of country," said Sane.

Fifty seven-year-old Sane, who was born and raised in Thane district says that his political career started with the Jaiprakash movement after which Indira Gandhi-led Congress government lost the following election. "This time again, the Congress government will fall flat after the election," said Sane.

After a remarkable win in Delhi, the Mumbai office of AAP was flooded with calls about membership procedure for those who wanted to be a part of it. "More than a dozen persons from the city have already shown their interest to contest parliament election for Thane seat and they have sent their request letters to the Mumbai party office," said a party leader, requesting anonymity.
