Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Anjali Damania on Monday levelled further allegations against beleaguered BJP leader and revenue minister Eknath Khadse, demanding his resignation. She alleged that Khadse was involved in an irrigation scam and hid details about his own properties and that of his families in the election affidavit filed by him.

"The chief minister should make sure that he is out of the cabinet. They (the BJP government) say they are against corruption. If they are, then action should be taken against Khadse. We are giving them 48 hours. If action isn't taken, then (whistle-blower) Sandeep Gawade, (ethical hacker) Manish Bhangale and I will sit outside the chief minister's office and protest," Damania said.

She added: "There is corruption with regard to the Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation, which Khadse set up, and he, along with Ajit Pawar, were involved in an irrigation scam. The tendering was flawed in all the projects.

They have given advance mobilisation funds, which is not allowed."

Damania also said that the contractors who were involved eventually purchased sugar mills, which now have Khadse's family members on them. "If the Economic Offences Wing conducts an inquiry, everything will come out," she said, before further alleging: "The moment I entered Jalgaon, policemen started following me and taking photographs of the people who were providing documents."

Damania also claimed that land in the name of Khadse's wife was allotted to her in a day's time, with the stated usage for it being changed twice. "The land was first changed to be used for schooling and then its usage was changed again to residential purposes. Khadse, in his election affidavit, has hidden all these details," Damania said.

Ajit Pawar, meanwhile, did not respond to an SMS sent to him.
