Subrata Roy-owned Sahara group's sprawling luxury township of Aamby Valley in Pune district was unsealed after the group made payment of defaulted agricultural tax. The township was allegedly sealed by the local authorities and Revenue department for non-payment of Rs3.2 crore as agricultural tax.

The township was sealed on Tuesday morning and then was unsealed within a few hours after the payment was made.

Situated close to Lonavala, Aamby Valley is a popular tourist spot which is spread over 1,000 acres. The township is considered to be India's first planned hill township which has residential complexes, hotels, wedding halls and other amenities inside it.

Revenue minister Eknath Khadse said: "Amby Valley had done the violation by not paying non-agriculture charges. So, the local tehsildar had issued a notice asking to pay the charges and penalty. The amount was over Rs4 crore. However, they paid the amount by submitting a cheque. But this said cheque got bounced so our department finally sealed its premises. On Tuesday, they paid the penalty in cash and agreed to pay rest of the amount in instalments."

However, after the Sahara group made the payment of the defaulted tax money, the officials on Tuesday evening itself revoke the order and opened the gates of Aamby Valley.
