With only a day left for the University of Mumbai to meet its deadline, teachers are still struggling to assess and moderate papers with technical glitches in the system continuing even on Saturday. For the subjects whose evaluation is over, declaration of results might still be a difficult task as the moderators are having a tough time getting papers to assess in their 'bins'.

"I have completed my assessment work two days ago and have been taking rounds of the Centralised Assessment Process (CAP) centres for moderation ever since. However, once I log into the system, it barely displays any papers despite the fact that a large number of papers are yet to be moderated," said a professor from a suburban college.

As on Saturday, a total of 2,71,700 answer scripts were yet to be evaluated with only 43,388 papers being assessed and moderated until evening. "We are now working on the assessment and result declaration of courses whose assessment is done. Results of a few courses are expected to be announced in the next two days," said Vinayak Dalvie, Officer on Special Duty(OSD) appointed by the university for the task.

State Education Minister Vinod Tawde met Governor Vidyasagar Rao on Saturday to brief him about the progress of the evaluation work until now. "The minister conveyed all the concerns raised by various members in the assembly.

He assured that while all the papers will be evaluated by July 31, most results are expected to be declared by the deadline," read a statement issued by the minister's office.

Sena wants VC out

Sources said that while there is a strong discontent amongst MU VC Dr Sanjay Deshmukh in the absence of several key officials, he may not be asked to step down until the results are declared. Yuva Sena President Aaditya Thackeray demanded action against MU and the VC, his brother Tejas Thackeray is awaiting his final year BA results
