8-year-old run over by truck at Sion

The Sion Police arrested a 36-year-old truck driver for allegedly running over an 8-year-old boy on Thursday at Sion. The accused has been identified as Hamir Hanif Pathan, a native of Ahemadnagar.

According to the Sion Police, the incident took place on Thursday around 9:30 pm, when the family of four were returning home from Dadar on their bike. As the family reached the Sion bridge, a white car hit the bike from the rear while overtaking it, due to which the father lost control of the bike and all four landed on the road.

Murugan's younger son, Sanjay Mahadevan, who was lying on the road was then run over by a truck. The boy was declared dead on arrival at Sion Hospital. "We will also take action against the car driver," said Mrudula Lad, senior Police Inspector.
