63-year-old from Rajasthan beats all odds, runs marathon

Raghuveer Khod says that his grandchildren inspired him to start running at the age of 60 and since then he has been participating in various marathons across the country

With a passion for running, 63-year-old Raghuveer Khod from Rajasthan travelled around 1,400 km to run the Mumbai Marathon. A resident of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, he ran the full marathon clocking a time of 4 hours 12 minutes. Khod says that his grandchildren inspired him to start running at the age of 60 and since then he has been participating in various marathons across the country.

Informing about what inspired him to start running marathons, Khod, a farmer said, "Three years back, my 14 grandchildren were practicing for their sports day. I joined them during practice to push them to do better. However, that practice ended up inspiring me to run and walk daily." In 2015, Khod completed the full marathon in 4 hours 15 minutes while in 2016 he completed it in 4 hours 37 minutes. "I came to the city on Saturday night and will be going back on Sunday afternoon after the run. I don't have any relatives in the city but my passion to run inspires me to travel to different places," said Raghuveer.
