A 62-year-old film technician was arrested by the Goregaon police on the charge of sexually assaulting two minor boys in Goregaon (West). According to the police, the accused, Arun Patil, and the victims lived in the same residential complex of MMRDA in Ram Mandir area of Goregaon (West).
A 62-year-old film technician was arrested by the Goregaon police on the charge of sexually assaulting two minor boys in Goregaon (West). According to the police, the accused, Arun Patil, and the victims lived in the same residential complex of MMRDA in Ram Mandir area of Goregaon (West).
The incident came to light when the complainant's sister caught the two minor boys - cousins aged 5 and 7 - behaving in a suggestive manner with each other on Thursday on the building premises. Upon being questioned, the boys revealed that they were emulating an uncle living in the neighbourhood who used to force himself on them.
Sunil Vadke, senior inspector of Goregaon police, said, "The parents of both the boys who were related to each other approached us immediately, following which we registered a case and arrested the accused under section 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
"The policeman added that the accused used to lure the boys with chocolates and sexually assault them on several occasions in the last month. "The parents got to know only after they found the boys behaving inappropriately with each other. When they inquired, the boys informed them that several times in the past, the man would call them to his house to have chocolates and misbehave with them," added Vadke.
The accused lived alone and both the victims' families who lived in the same building were known to him. The police is checking whether more children have fallen prey to Patil in the past.
