The Maharashtra State Federation of Junior College Teachers Organisation has threatened the state government with a protest — observing a non-cooperation movement during the assessment of HSC exam papers from March 10. Almost 60,000 teachers are expected to take part in the protest.

Why are the teachers upset?
The organisation is upset over its several demands, which were assured of being fulfilled last year, still not being implemented by the education minister.
After protesting twice last year and subsequently being given assurances by the education minister on our demands, the state has failed to implement them, claimed members.

What are their demands?
Sanctioned teachers salary pending since 2007, making information technology subject aided and pay those teachers according to it, separating administration of junior colleges from schools and degree colleges, conducting exams of science and maths of HSC students as per the old pattern, and calling for an external examiner for HSC practical exams are some of their demands.

What's the organisation saying?
General secretary Anil Deshmukh said, "This time, we are going to protest in a unique way. We will only check one answer sheet from every bundle, keeping the rest untouched. If the education minister does not call for a meeting within eight days and implement our demands, we will start a non-cooperation movement."
