57-year-old found dead in Vikhroli flat

A 57-year-old employee of the Godrej's Consumer Society was found dead in his flat in Godrej Colony at Vikhroli (East)on Monday. The Vikhroli police suspect that the deceased committed suicide.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Yeraj Daruwala, who was living alone at his one-room kitchen flat. On Monday morning, when Daruwala did not report to work and did not answer phone calls, his colleagues went to his flat to check on him.

When Daruwala did not answer the door bell, his colleagues peeped through the window and saw him lying on the bed with his face covered with plastic and a pillow.

Dinesh Desai, senior police inspector from Vikhroli police station said: "When we were informed by the guards of the building, a police team rushed to the spot and entered the flat through window and opened the door."
The police suspect that Daruwala would have committed suicide by suffocating himself to death. The police have not recovered any suicide note from the spot.

"We have registered a case of suicide and are probing the matter. The body has been sent for post morterm. After the reports are received, we will be able to ascertain the exact cause of death," said Desai.
