56-year-old held for groping brother's daughter-in-law

The Tardeo police on Thursday arrested a 56-year-old man who allegedly molested his brother's daughter-in-law in her house in Tardeo on Wednesday. The accused also allegedly poured inflammable liquid on her while molesting her.

The police said the victim has been staying in the Tulsiwadi area for the past 10 years with her husband and two children. The accused too stays in the same locality.

On Wednesday around 10pm, the accused visited her house and passed a lewd comment. "As per the victim's allegation, the accused groped her and also tore her clothes. He also allegedly poured some inflammable substance on her, due to which she started having burning sensations," said an officer from Tardeo police station.

The victim then raised an alarm, after which the neighbours came for help and the accused fled. The victim lodged a police complaint against the accused under sections 354 (a) (sexual harassment) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. Following the complaint, the accused was arrested.

In another case, 25-year old Ghulam Jaffar Khan, a Ghatkopar resident, was arrested by the Dadar railway police for allegedly stalking a 19-year-old Vikhroli resident on Wednesday. "Around 2.20pm, while getting down from Parel foot overbridge, Khan groped the victim and made obscene gestures," said a police officer.
