A 55-year-old Andheri resident allegedly committed suicide at her gift shop on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Hemali Revankar, has left behind a note in which she mentioned that she was in deep economic crises and therefore she had no other option but to end her life.

Revankar committed suicide by hanging herself using a nylon rope. The MIDC police have registered a case of accidental death.

Rajaram Mandage, senior police inspector, said, "One of her employees found her body in her cabin around 10.30am. They had already brought the body down when we reached. We have found marks around her neck suggesting that she died due to hanging."

"We are going to record statements of Revankar's colleagues. However, preliminary investigations don't suggest any foul play and we have gone through the suicide note which clearly mentions that she was in a financial crisis," said the police.

Revankar's body was sent for a post mortem in Cooper Hospital.
