53-year-old arrested for raping 6-year-old in Mumbai's Versova area

A 53-year-old man was arrested for raping a 6-year-old girl in Versova on Sunday. The parents of the girl had been dropping her off at the accused's home for baby sitting, since the past three months.

Police officials said that being working parents, they used to drop their child off in the custody of the accused's mother for baby sitting during the day. 

Over the past two days, the girl complained that the accused had touch her inappropriately, according to the family.

The accused, who is an electrician from the area, has been arrested by the Versova police and charges of rape under the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act have been filed against him.
