50-year-old housewife stabbed to death in Juhu

A 50-year-old housewife was allegedly strangulated and stabbed to death in her Juhu residence on Monday afternoon. The police suspect the involvement of her domestic help in the crime.

Officers said the house was ransacked and valuables worth lakhs have gone missing. The house help, Dileep, too is absconding. According to the police, he was hired three months ago by the family. The Juhu police have registered a case of murder and are on the lookout for the suspect.

The deceased, Minuti Parekh, lived with her husband in a third-floor flat in Guru Kripa building, JVPD. Her husband and daughter, who live with her, were away when the incident happened.

Deputy commissioner Vinayak Deshmukh said, "When the incident happened, only the domestic help was at home with Parekh. The house was ransacked and cash and valuables have gone missing. We are yet to ascertain the worth of the stolen valuables."

CCTVs have captured the domestic help leaving the house in the afternoon with the booty, said the police. Parekh's daughter-in-law, who lives nearby and visited her around 5pm, found her lying in a pool of blood when she opened the door using a duplicate key. She immediately called Parekh's husband, after which the police were informed. Parekh's husband runs a chemical factory.

A manhunt has been launched by the police to nab the domestic help.
