50 schools, colleges participates in six-day fest

The six-day inter-school and college festival of central suburbs – Ganraj Prernotsav, held at Dombivli's Jana Gana Mana (JGM) school, concluded on Saturday. The event was media partnered with dna.

In this six-day festival held from September 21 to 26, over 500 students from 50 schools and colleges in central suburbs participated. The fest had various art, cultural and social competitions lined up for the students. For instance, on the first day of inauguration they had Gankokila group song competition. During the next five days there was Pandit Birju Maharaj group dance competition, Valya to Valmiki best-out-of-waste competition, Nitin Desai drawing competition, among others.

The exhibits by different schools were on various topics related to green energy, innovation in transport, communication, agriculture, technology, biodiversity, community health, environment modeling, solar system, among others.

The festival concluded on September 26, where winners were awarded trophies and certificates at the hands of Machindra Chate, owner of Chate coaching classes. The winners include – Matoshri Sarklabai Mhatre Vidaylay from Dombivli for their rainwater harvesting in city project, that was exhibited in Dr APJ Kalam science and social science competition; KB Women's College and DNC College for making Ganpati using plastic spoons, coconut and peepal leaves in Valya to Valmiki best-out-of-waste competition; and DNC College for making Ganpati using plastic spoons, coconut and peepal leaves.

The other winners are Fatima High School, Model College, KB Women's College in group dance competition. In Nitin Desai drawing competition - Jana Gana Mana CBSE School, Karndikar Kala Academy, Model College were the winners.

The fest is organised by JGM school since past two years during Ganesh Chaturthi and is a platform for school and college students to exhibit their talents.
