5 Men nabbed for stealing a bag and stabbing a man at Mahim station

They will be under police custody till August 30. The accused have been booked under section 397 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for Robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.

Five men have been arrested by the Mumbai Central railway police station for allegedly stealing a bag and stabbing a person at Mahim station.

They will be under police custody till August 30. The accused have been booked under section 397 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for Robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.

The incident took place on August 22 when Arvind Kumar Pandey (19), a resident of Surat was napping on platform number 1 of Mahim station, while one of the accused snatched the bag from below the victim's head and started running. While the victim followed him, he got down on the tracks, where four of his friends were seated too. Amidst the fist fight, one of the accused stabbed Pandey with a knife in his stomach and fled away. Later, Pandey was taken to Sion Hospital by Jaideep Pavshe (43), constable with Mumbai Central railway police, who also lodged an FIR on Pandey's behalf.

"With the help of our informants, the five have been arrested and the victim is stable. The bag is yet to be recovered and we are investigating further into the matter about criminal records of the accused," said Deepak Deoraj, DCP of Western Railway.
