It's been over one and half month and the 12 blind students, who finished Class 8 from Kamla Mehta School for the Blind in Dadar, still do not have any school to join which will admit them with provision of a special teacher. However, the education department has called the authorities of Kamla Mehta to meet them on Wednesday.

The report of "12 blind girl students who passed class 7, now have no school to go", appeared in dna on July 17. The students after finishing their class 7, were given admission in nearby Marathi medium Saraswati High school. However, this year the Saraswati School was not equipped with resource teachers to teach blind students so the girls were not given admission.

The authorities from Kamla Mehta met the South Mumbai education department and another meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday. When the girls' admission was cancelled at the Dadar-based school, Kamla Mehta started giving them private tuition and will continue to do so till they get admission in other school.

Kamla Mehta tried to make an arrangement with another school, planning to transfer students of class 8, 9 and 10 of Saraswati along with their resource teachers and normal teachers. But the mission failed as such kind of transfers are not allowed as per the education department.

An officials from Mantralay of social justice, which which deals with these matters, said, "Resource teachers are provided by the Central Government and also paid by them. If another school is ready to give admission to these 12 students, then they will have to provide them the resource teachers along with normal, till the teachers are provided by Central Government after the formalities. The trust will also have to pay the salaries of those resource teachers till government-allotted ones join work."

Suparna Ajgaonkar, principal of Kamla Mehta, said, "We have been called by education department of south Mumbai on Wednesday. We will wait and watch what kind of a help the department provide to our students."
