4 Bangladeshi women arrested by Thane police

According to the police, on Thursday morning they received a tip-off that Momta Akhtar Abdul Mandal 22, Salma Mansoor Shaikh, 30, Tisha Milan Khalifa, 25 and Jasmin Ansarbishesh staying at Thane's Manorama Nagar are from Bangladesh.

Thane police have booked four Bangladeshi women for illegal stay and theft

On Thursday around 7.30pm, the Thane anti-human trafficking cell have arrested four Bangladeshi women and the police are suspecting that the quartet has been involved in robbery too.

According to the police, on Thursday morning they received a tip-off that Momta Akhtar Abdul Mandal 22, Salma Mansoor Shaikh, 30, Tisha Milan Khalifa, 25 and Jasmin Ansarbishesh staying at Thane's Manorama Nagar are from Bangladesh.

The police reached the spot at 4.30pm and arrested the four. It was revealed during the investigation that the four had been residing in Thane for a year and they have been sent to the Thane central jail after they were produced in court.

In their primary investigation, the police have found that the four do not have any Indian documents and a passport, but have Bangladesh's ID card. The women said they came to India through the border and were searching for a job. As their area of residence falls under Kapurbawdi, the Kapurbawdi police station have registered a case under relevant sections of being not citizen of India.

Shakil Shaikh, senior police inspector from Thane's anti-human trafficking cell said, "We got a tip-off and we laid a trap. We are yet to find if they have been involved in any cases of theft. We found that the four crossed the border easily problem and their main aim was to hunt job and earn money here. Further investigation is on and the four will remain behind bars."
