Around 30 children fell sick after consuming a meal served at a Bhiwandi-based Madrasa on Wednesday. According to hospital sources, the children had symptoms of food poisoning.

Some children have been shifted to Thane Civil Hospital, while others have been shifted to Nair Hospital in Mumbai.

Dr RN Bharmal, Dean of Nair Hospital, said, "We received a call that around 20 children in Bhiwandi had food poisoning. They are on their way to get admitted in the hospital. Till the time they reach the hospital, we are preparing for their basic medical treatment."

Few of the children might also be shifted to Sir JJ Hospital.

"All 30 children were admitted to Thane Civil Hospital, but their parents wanted to shift them to a civic hospital in Mumbai because of which few of the cases are getting shifted to Nair. We won't be able to say anything about their medical condition before examining," said Dr Bharmal.
