3 men of Ravi Pujari's gang held in firing case

The Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) of the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested three members allegedly associated with the Ravi Pujari gang for a firing case that took place outside a city hotel in October 2016, and giving threat calls to the hotel's owner. While the arrested accused have several cases registered against them, two more accused in the case are absconding. The accused have been identified as Suresh Pujari, Ramesh Pujari and Mrutunjay Das.

According to the AEC, two of the three accused allegedly arrived at the hotel on October 21, handed a chit to the person at the ice-cream counter, asked him to hand it over to the owner to call Ravi Pujari, fired a shot and fled from the spot. After the incident, Ravi Pujari allegedly made a threat call to the owner. The trio has been booked under relevant sections of the Arms act.

Based on CCTV footage near the hotel, the two accused were identified. The informers also confirmed the involvement of gangster Ravi Pujari in the firing. Initially, Suresh and Ramesh were arrested. They confessed to firing at the spot. The duo also revealed that all of this was done on the instance of Pujari.

Suresh has been arrested in a murder case in 1983 and has been convicted for four years as well. He was also booked for a narcotics crime and arrested under The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
