28-year-old Mumbai woman hangs herself while her boyfriend watches via webcam

Police have taken the laptop and mobile phone of the victim in their custody for investigation.

A 28-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Vile Parle west in suburban Mumbai. The incident took place when the deceased was chatting with her boyfriend on the Internet and the webcam was on.

According to the Juhu police, the deceased, Shobana Surve,was working in private firm in Andheri and was living along with her parents in Mutthuswamy chawl in Nehru Nagar area near Juhu police station in Vile Parle west.

The incident took place on Wednesday at around 8pm when she was chatting with her boyfriend Swapnil. The relative reported to the police that she had hanged herself in front of the laptop webcam while it was on and it seems that she must had an argument with her boyfriend Swapnil Surve. The family of the deceased had gone to their native place and she was alone in the house.

When the neighbours learnt about the incident they informed to her parents and the Mumbai police control room. Police reached on the spot and she was taken to Cooper hospital where she was declared dead before admission.

Police have taken the laptop and mobile phone of the victim in their custody for investigation.

Swapnil lives in Vile Parle east. The Juhu police have confirmed the incident and said that they are investigating the matter after which the case will be registered.
